Nothing causes more anxiety and fear in pet owners than a diagnosis of cancer. The professionals at Animal Care Center have years of experience successfully treating cancer in dogs and cats.

HUMANE & REASONABLE CANCER CARE

When a pet is diagnosed with cancer, most owners have a lot of questions about the prognosis, their options for treatment, and quality of life for their special companion. At Animal Care Center, our experience in treating cancer offers a few fundamental insights for concerned pet owners:

WHAT CANCER ISN’T:

  • Scary—We take away the fear with honest dialog, accurate information, a detailed treatment plan, and support for pets and owners.
  • Expensive—We keep prices down by treating cancer in house; every treatment option and cost is presented to you with recommendations based on your financial, and emotional, needs.

WHAT CANCER IS:

  • Treatable‚ÄźEvery day, new successful treatments become available for pets.
  • Comfortable—Our pets tolerate treatments such as chemotherapy with fewer side effects than humans, and our pain management program is custom designed for the specific needs of each patient

We create a treatment plan that focuses on wellbeing and quality of life, for both the patient and the pet owner. Many of our patients recover fully from cancer. Those that must live with the disease, because they do not respond to or cannot tolerate treatments, are maintained in comfort for as long as humanely possible.

Surgery—We surgically remove cancerous masses or tumors; laser surgery can further enhance success due to its increased precision, as well as reduced bleeding, inflammation, and tissue damage.
Chemotherapy—The patient is given chemotherapy drugs, usually intravenously, designed to kill rapidly reproducing cancer cells without damaging healthy cells; most pet patients do not experience severe side effects like nausea and hair loss.
Many pets that have an early diagnosis recuperate fully after treatment. Regular wellness care, with annual or twice annual veterinary visits and exams, is your pet’s first defense against cancer. Caught early, cancer is treatable and often curable in dogs and cats.
